The Story Behind

What began with one Christmas tree in 2008 has grown into multiple nationwide light shows!

It all started when Andrew Wilhelm, fascinated by electricity, sat under the family Christmas tree playing “Carol of the Bells” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra—plugging and unplugging the lights to match the beat. Over the years, Andrew’s sister Kayla joined him in managing the living room light display, which eventually grew to 5,700 lights, which they controlled by hand. As the indoor Christmas light show grew, space in the living room ran out.

That’s when Andrew’s mom told them to: “Take the show outside!”

From that moment on, the display continued to evolve. By 2022, it had grown to include over 27,000 lights and eventually merged with “A Journey Production” in 2023. The combination of the lights launched a Christmas Light Park at Starlight Ranch Event Center.

However, after just one season, life took an unexpected turn. In 2024, some unforeseen circumstances made it impossible to reopen the park that November. Despite the challenges, the team still pulled off their biggest show yet in Delaware, officially branding it as SCHATZ LIGHTS, named after the owners.

As 2025 unfolds, life is changing even more. With these exciting milestones, plans for reopening the park have taken a backseat.

But this is far from the end.

Bigger and better shows are coming—we just need a little more time to adjust to our new environments. We plan on producing more shows while expanding our YouTube platform so more people can experience the magic—no matter where they are.

Andrew Wilhelm, has been passionate about lights and electricity from a young age. In 2015, he discovered Light-O-Rama, using it for four years before switching to xLights in 2019. Lights Shows has been his passion, and he’s always planning the next big addition to the multi-show company.

Andrew is grateful for his amazing team, who helps bring the magic to life—and for every person who comes to enjoy one of the shows.

Now Andrew is looking to add new locations and create even crazier shows.
